Camilla Parker Bowles isn't a blonde anymore
Ankurita | Oct 9 2007

Camilla Parker Bowles’s fashion sense may have any number of striking aspects. The most startling is that, after more than a decade in the public eye, nothing could persuade her for a make over, in spite of being an object of ridicule for it.

But not until recently...Though no spectacular change in her dressing style is seen and her unremarkable tweeds, Sunday service hats and silhouettes that are more rectangular than hourglass are all the same, Camilla Parker Bowles haircolour has undergone a change from golden blonde to contrasting platinum white.

Her hair colour has changed but not her hairstyle that has not been significantly altered for more than a decade. She maintains a style that combines Farrah Fawcett’s 1970s layers with Linda Gray’s 1980s angel wings.

The Duchess has her hair cut at a salon in Belgravia, or at home by celebrity stylist Hugh Green. But she has been going to Jo Hansford’s Mayfair salon for highlights and colouring once a month for 22 years. When Camilla married Prince Charles in 2005, it was Jo who coloured her hair before the big event using cream and honey blond highlights. The Duchess of Cornwall pays £400 for a hair-colouring session and now she sports an altered look by the new colour.

The reasons for Camilla’s choice of the new colour are not evident but it is speculated that it is due to her graying hair and that she might have followed her hairstylist’s suggestion that grey hair is difficult to ignore once it takes hold, and blending it in rather than covering it up is a great way to deal with it.
