Daniel Radcliffe, our very own 'Harry Potter', turns 18

Daniel Radcliffe, the onscreen ‘Harry Potter’, has turned 18 today.
He was just an 11-year-old kid when he first entered the silver screen as Harry Potter. He was cast as a schoolboy wizard in the ‘Harry Potter’ movies based on the novels written by J.K. Rowling.

Radcliffe’s latest movie is ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,’ in which he stars along with Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. The movie is presently in theatres worldwide.

Moreover, the release of J.K. Rowling’s final book in the popular series, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,’ happened on Saturday. The initial stock of this book reportedly sold out within 24-hours in the U.S.

According to the evaluations made by British newspapers, Radcliffe is worth $35 million. Radcliffe will gain a $19 million investment fund on his turning18, as reported by the ‘People’ Magazine.

There has been a lot of media gossip that once he turned 18, Radcliffe would get hold of enormous amounts of cash. However, according to his publicist’s office, those news reports were exaggerated on the whole.

A lady who answered the phone at the office of Radcliffe’s publicist, said -

It’s not a big deal today.

She refused to reveal her name however, on the grounds that she was not the official spokesperson. This unidentified lady also refused to give any further details. She said that Radcliffe’s birthday, as well as his financial status, were something ‘personal’.

It sounds ironic though, that Radcliffe’s 18th birthday coincides with the release of the ending book in the ‘Harry Potter’ series. Did Rowling feel that ‘Harry’ was getting too old for her?
