It was a legend in the making (Becks is already one but I am waiting for him to retire to round it up properly) presenting the greatest legend of the game with a life time achievement award (do I really have to name him) at a gala affair sponsored collectively by Major League Soccer (MLS) Works/World Soccer Foundation/Harlem Youth Soccer Street to Fields.
The affair staged in the glittering New York City overwhelmed Beckham to the hilt for he felt elated to have been chosen to honour Pele. He quipped:
This absolutely is a highlight moment for me
The 32 year old Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder also expressed hope that with time, the Americans would adore this game as much as they cherish the other ones, owing to the charismatic nature of the game.
We certainly have a mascot in him don’t we!
