Magician David Copperfield would need to dig deep into his reserves to come up with the magic to save himself from spending a good number of years in the Federal prison. His magic might have earned him worldwide recognition and fame but all that hard-earned status won’t come nowhere near to help him should he be convicted of rape.

The accusation by a 21-year old aspiring model from Washington that Copperfield raped, assaulted and threatened her at his private island in the Bahamas in July this year could spell doom of the 51-year American illusionist’s career and life. The trap woven by Copperfield to entrap the young woman into the web appears as calculated as the magician’s onstage shows.

The unnamed young woman has intimated the Seattle federal grand jury that she and her family were approached way back in January this year by David Copperfield during a show neat the Tri-Cities area. Then promising her to kindle the woman’s modeling career, Copperfield convinced her to meet him at his $50 million private retreat at Musha Cay in the Bahamas in July, when he allegedly raped her and also struck her twice.

Should indeed the American illusionist be convicted of rape and other charges brought against him by the Seattle grand jury, he could confront a massive meltdown in his reputation. An image of Copperfield in wax is present at the illustrious Madame Tussauds and the magician also has a French knighthood. All such honours can’t be taken away from him of course even he be convicted but a dark mark would forever be etched across his legacy. But there’s no doubt that Copperfield is plotting a new magic act to save himself from the humiliation.
