Marc Quinn creates Kate Moss’s golden statue

It seems to be a grand occasion for the famed super model, Kate Moss. Having already had her figure commemorated in wax and bronze earlier, now it’s turn for a golden splash. The British sculptor Marc Quinn has created a unique solid gold statue of Miss Moss worth 1.5 million pound sterling. The statue, yet to be unveiled by the British Museum will portray Kate in a yoga pose quite alike the earlier bronze statue. The bronze series of statues was also created by Quinn naming the series “Sphinx”. It consisted of seven bronze statues of Moss showing her in different yoga poses.

Now when creating the golden statue as well Quinn commented,

I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who’s the ideal beauty of the moment. But even Kate Moss doesn’t live up to the image.

The all hyped golden statue will be on display in the Nereid Gallery of the British Museum from October 4th till January 25th next year.

At times like this i feel the human race might have run out of things to do. I have no problem with statues depicting beautiful women in yoga poses, but it all smacks of complete and utter waste of raw materiel (and a valuable one of that). 1.5 million pound sterling! Good lord!
I only hope this trend doesn’t catch on!

I like Kate Moss, nice post. thanks
