In an unexpected ceremony, The Father of the Bride, Steve Martin wed his journalist girlfriend, Anne Stringfield at his Los Angeles home. The unannounced ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests like Bob Kerrey, the former Nebraska Senator, Tom Hanks, Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, Carl Reiner and magician Ricky Jay with some 75 other guests.

The marriage was a surprise to all the guests as they were not informed of any wedding but were rather invited for simple home ‘party’.

Martin, 61, selected Lorne Michaels as his Best man. Lorne also happens to be the planner of US comedy show, Saturday Night Live.

The couple has married after a courtship of three years. This is first marriage for Stringfield who is a writer for US Vogue and The New Yorker magazine.

Martin was sporting Inspector Clouseau mustache which he has for his forthcoming sequel to the 2006 Pink Panther remake, when he exchanged vows with his 35-year-old bride.

He was earlier married to his co-star, Victoria Tennant for eight years. However their marriage finally resulted in a divorce after eight years, in 1994.

His famous movies are Planes, Trains & Automobiles, LA Story, Parenthood and Father of the Bride. The novel, Shopgirl written by him was also made into a film that starred him with Claire Danes.

Martin will begin shooting for the Pink Panther in August.
